Is the Chernobyl site safe for visits?
Introduction The Chernobyl Disaster has been probably one of the worst nuclear tragedies that the world has seen. The Chernobyl Disaster occurred between the 25th and the 26th April 1986. This disaster as known to occur while there was a late-night safety test that was underway checking the safety of the plant in case of a power failure. As a part of the test, a simulation was run at the station where the entire power for the station was cut off and the safety systems were required to be turned off intentionally. A mixture of the inbuilt reactor design flaws along the reactor operators positioning the core in a way that was contrary to the checklist designed for the test resulted in conditions that were resultant in an uncontrolled nuclear reaction.
